APDS is a professional, student-run organization at the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs and the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications. It was founded in 2008 with the launch of the joint degree in international relations and public relations at Syracuse University. Since its inception, APDS has evolved into one of the most active on-campus student organizations, conducting the annual public diplomacy Symposium, and publishing Exchange: The Journal of Public Diplomacy.
Mission: The purpose of this organization is to support the exploration and practice of public diplomacy through scholarship, outreach, and campus and community activities
PAIRA is the official graduate student organization representing the needs and interests of Public Administration and International Affairs (PAIA) graduate students at the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs at Syracuse University.
Mission: In its organizational capacity, PAIRA exists for the purposes of fostering an inclusive community that expands PAIA student opportunity and provides an open forum through which the legitimate concerns of the PAIA graduate student community can be addressed. Additionally, PAIRA obligates itself to the provision of opportunities and activities that stimulate a growth of both PA and IR graduate students.
To accomplish this mission, PAIRA establishes itself in an inclusive, open organizational format. This format takes form in a number of issue oriented standing committees as well as in PAIRA’s general membership. The open committees are bound together by the PAIRA Executive Board. PAIRA believes that this structure provides a unique sense of communal leadership that suits the vast needs of the growing PAIA community. In its incarnate capacity, PAIRA pledges to represent the views of its constituency to all inquiring parties in matters before the PAIA community.
