Public Affairs and the S.I. Newhouse
School of Communications, will visit
Syracuses November
3-8, 2012
Syracuse University is proud
to host the Edward R. Murrow Program
for Journalists. This year,
journalists from South Asia,
including the countries of India,
Pakistan, and Nepal among others.
The program is an innovative
public-private partnership between
the Department of State and several
top U.S. schools of journalism.

lecture October 5, 2012
Syracuse University’s
Association of Public Diplomacy
Scholars (APDS) welcomes Mr.Mkel
Hammer for a guest lecture on
Fridayat noon at Syracuse
University's S.I. Newhouse School of
Public Communications.
Secretary Hammer was sworn in as the
Assistant Secretary in March of this
year. Prior to that, he served as
Acting Assistant Secretary for
Public Affairs since March 2011 and
as Principal Deputy Assistant
Secretary for Public Affairs before
that. The lecture will begin
at noon in the I3 Center of Newhouse III. This event is free and
open to the public.

Syracuse University’s
Association of Public Diplomacy
Scholars (APDS) will host Letitia
(Tish) King, the Director of the
Office of Public Affairs at the Broadcasting
Board of Governors. Prior to the
BBG, she worked as Director of Media
Relations at Voice of America.
Ms. King is an epert practitioner of
media relations, internal and
external communications, and project
management. She will meet with
Public Diplomacy students and
provide background into these topics
as well as her experience at BBG and
VoA.

Stefanie Babst, NATO's Deputy
Assistant Secretary General for
Public Diplomacy. Ms. Babst is
responsible for NATO's
communications strategies and
has energetically driven NATO's
digital outreach.
Her article focused on NATO's
use of social media.
